CHAIN 6, join in ring, 9 s in ring, ch 5, 1 d in 1st st, ch 1, 1 d in next st, ch 1, 1 d in next st, ch 1, 1 d in same st, ch 1, 1 d in next st, repeat until there are 18 d around ring, join to 1st d, ch 3, 1 s in 1st sp of 1 ch, ch 3, 1 s in next sp, repeat around ring. Make another ring, joining together as shown in illustration. When all the rings are made and joined, break thread.
1st row. Join thread to 4th loop from where one ring is joined to another, ch 5, 1 d in next loop, * ch 3, 1 d in next loop, ch 3, 1 d in next loop, ch 15, 1 d in 4th loop of next ring, repeat from *, join last ch of 15 to 3rd st of 1st 5 ch.
2d row. ch 5, 1 d, in 2nd st of ch of 3, ch 1, 1 d over d, 1 ch, 1 d in 2nd st of ch of 3, ch 1, 1 d over d, repeat around ring, having 8 d with 2 ch between on the ch of 15, join last ch of 2 to the 3rd of 1st 5 ch.
3d row. ch 7, 1 tr (thread over hook twice) over 1st d, ch 2, sk 2 sp, 1 tr over next d, ch 1, 1 tr in same d, ch 2 sk 2 sp, 1 tr in next d, ch 1, 1 tr in same d, repeat from *, joining the last ch of 1 into 5th ch of 1st 7 ch.
4th row. ch 7, 1 tr in sp between tr, ch 2, * 1 tr in next sp, ch 3, 1 tr in same sp, ch 3, repeat from *.
5th row. Work s around bottom, having 2 s between gr of tr, 1 s over tr, 1 s between tr, 1 s over tr, repeat around bottom, making 4 rows of s to finish.

Mesh Stitch
1st row. Join thread to where ends are joined together to make side. * Draw up loop on hook 1/2 inch, thread over hook, draw through loop, pass hook between loop and thread, 1 s, draw up another loop1/2 inch long, thread over hook, draw through loop, pass hook between loop and thread, 1 s, sk 2 sp, 2 s in next sp, repeat from around bag.
2d row. Draw up 2 loops as before, make 1 s in 1st loop of 1st row, 1 s in next loop, always inserting the hook under two threads, repeat around bag. Make 13 rows of loops, or mesh stitch.
Make ch of 4, 1 s in 1st loop, 1 s in next loop, ch 4, repeat around top, work 7 s in each sp of 4 ch, work 3 rows of s around top.

Insertion for Cord
4 s in next 4 st on top of bag, ch 10; turn, * 3 s, p, 2 s, p, 5 s, p, 3 s, p, 3 s over sp of 10 ch, 7 s in next 7 st, ch lo; turn, 1 s between 2nd and 3rd p; turn, repeat from *, fasten off. Join thread between 1st and 2nd p on top, ch 11,1 s between next 2 p, ch 11, repeat around top. When row is finished, sl st to 6 st of 11 ch, ch 11, 1 s in 6 st of next 11ch, repeat. There are 3 rows of 11 ch for top.
Cord
Ch 4, join to make ring, 1 s in each of 4 ch, continue mak¬ing 1 s in each outside stitch, which is a slanting stitch which will not show until a few rows are made.
