4th row. r 6 d s, join to first p on ch of third row, 6 d s, close. Turn; ch,8 d s, p, 8 d s. Turn; repeat r and ch 19 times, cut and tie.

Balls
CHAIN 3, join, 6 s in r, 2 s in each st around r, continue work¬ing around. Increase by working 2 s in every sixth st until there are 30 st. Work 8 rows of s without increasing. Narrow gradually by skipping t s until near end. Fill with cotton and finish narrowing.
Tassel
MAKE cap for top of tassel as given in instruction for balls. Use several strands of cotton for fringe, cutting it twice the length re¬quired, and fasten to cap by tying cotton through center of strands and drawing through top of cap.
